Our Story

Welcome to Fully Human Movement. I'm delighted that you're here and excited to be a part of your life's journey. This site was launched as an expansion of my own years-long attempt to understand the life and teaching of Jesus. If you've spent time in the Evangelical, Protestant, or Catholic traditions but have found them a bit vacant or confusing, I hope that the tools and teachings you find here will help provide clarity, truth, and substance to your faith. We believe that the key to understanding the teaching of Christ, lies in his humanity. Jesus was not special because he was some sort of God-man, but because he was the expression of human life in its fullest. The true gospel message can only be found when we embrace this truth and view his teaching through the paradigm of how to live a fully human life.

Our Approach

I believe that the church as a whole has largely misunderstood key concepts of their own faith. I believe there is a critical separation between how Christianity is practiced today and the actual teachings of Christ. My goal is to uncover what those teachings were and arrive at a true understanding of the real gospel message. The primary source for our understanding is the Bible. However, this is not to say we don't utilize other wisdom literature. Our search is for truth, not dogma. Truth is truth wherever it is found.

About Me

I'm a lifelong student of theology and philosophy.

I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan, with a degree in Philosophy. Prior to that, I attended a conservative and well-known Bible college in the midwest. However, just months before graduating, I was informed they would not allow me to graduate because my developing theological beliefs did not fit the narrow scope of that school. Shook by that experience, for many years I had no interest in theology or faith. I held the label of "agnostic", believing (incorrectly) that if I didn't fit into their prescribed theological mold, I didn't have a place in the church.

However, several years ago, I found myself in a place of discontentment and curiosity. I had achieved what I viewed as success financially and with my family, but nevertheless, there was a lingering feeling to resolve unanswered questions from my previous life.

Over the next several years, what started as a simple attempt to meditate, would  traverse through studies of Buddhism, Hinduism, Yoga, the Vedas, and the Bible. I recall sneakily reading the Bible in the early morning before anyone had gotten up, feeling somewhat sheepish about my renewed interest. But something was compelling me. I needed to understand the unanswered questions that I had.

And that process ultimately led here. My goal is simply to share the the truth of Scripture as I've come to view it. This may not the version you're accustomed to hearing in church. But I believe it is closer to the actual teachings of Jesus than we've been given in the Christian tradition. Perhaps it will help you on your journey as it has on mine.
